The buildings
Hard floors, high ceilings, no absorption.
School halls and village churches share a problem: every surface reflects, nothing absorbs, and speech turns to mush long before it reaches the back. Turning it up makes it worse.
Halls and productions
Sports halls and assembly halls are acoustically brutal — and you are usually asking them to carry unamplified children's voices to a room full of parents.
The answer is more microphones placed closer, not more volume: float mics across the stage front, radio mics on leads, and a system tuned for intelligibility rather than level.
Services and concerts
Stone and glass give long reverb times that flatter a choir and destroy the spoken word. Fixed systems in older churches are often decades old and were never good.
We supply discreet, temporary systems that suit the building, with radio lapel mics for clergy and speakers positioned to avoid feeding back into the space.
Village halls and clubs
Quiz nights, discos, presentations, funerals, fetes and AGMs — usually run by volunteers, on a tight budget, with whoever is available on the night.
We keep it simple: the right kit, set up and pre-tuned, with a clear handover so anyone can operate it.
How to hire
Two ways to do this.
Dry hire — you collect and run it
Collect from our base near Diss and run it yourself. Everything goes out PAT tested, in cases or covers, with the correct cabling and a straightforward setup guide. No missing leads in the car park.
The sensible option for schools and churches doing this regularly, and by far the cheaper route. We are happy to spend ten minutes on the phone talking a first-timer through it.
Delivered, set up and collected
We bring it, rig it, tune it to the room and show whoever is running it how it works. For a production or a bigger service we can stay and operate it.
Worth it when there is a running order, a lot of microphones, or nobody available on the day who wants the responsibility.

Do you offer discounted rates for schools and charities?
We keep rates for school, church and community work deliberately straightforward and modest, and we are happy to talk about repeat-hire arrangements for regular events. Tell us what you are running and what the budget looks like — we would rather find something that works than price you out.
Can we hire the equipment and set it up ourselves?
Yes, and for schools and churches this is often the sensible choice. Everything goes out tested with the right cabling and a setup guide, and we will walk a first-timer through it on the phone.
What do we need for a school production?
Typically float microphones along the stage front to pick up unamplified young voices, two or three radio mics for leads, a mixer, and a system tuned for speech clarity. Stage lighting and a modest riser if the hall has no stage. Tell us the show and the hall and we will spec it.
Do your crew have DBS checks?
DBS-checked crew can be arranged for work in schools — please mention it when you enquire so we can allocate accordingly.
Can you help with a church that has a bad existing system?
Yes. We can supply a temporary system for a particular service or concert, and we also repair and service AV and PA equipment, so if the existing system is fixable that may be the better answer. We will tell you which.
Are you insured for working in schools and public buildings?
Yes — £10m public liability, and we send certificates, risk assessments and method statements straight to your site manager or venue on request.
