AV hire and event production in Cambridge.
Sound, lighting, LED screens and staging for college dinners, conferences, launches and weddings in Cambridge and the villages around it. Delivered, set up and run by us, or supplied as dry hire.
Planned around the room, not a price list.
Cambridge events tend to happen in rooms that were never built for a PA: panelled college halls, riverside hotel suites, science-park atriums and marquees in village gardens. We start with the room, the guest numbers and the running order, then specify the sound, lighting and screens that suit them, and quote for exactly that.
Our base is at Roydon, near Diss, 49 miles from Cambridge and about an hour and ten minutes down the A11. Delivery is priced by distance and shown in your quote, so the invoice holds no surprises.
Three kinds of event, three different systems.
Formal dinners and balls
Speech mics that reach the back tables, music that sits under the conversation, and lighting that lifts stone and panelling without glare. A long room works better with several smaller speakers than two loud ones at the top table.
Conferences and launches
Lectern and radio mics, a confidence monitor, LED screens or projection, and a sound desk with an engineer on it. The presentation has to work first time, whether it's a science-park launch, an AGM or an academic conference.
Weddings and private parties
PA for the ceremony and speeches, a band or DJ system for the evening, and uplighting to finish the room, in a hotel, a college, a barn or a marquee in one of the villages outside the city.
Where we set up in and around the city.
Every kind of venue brings its own rules about access, power and noise, and we plan for them before the van leaves:
- College halls, chapels and conference rooms, such as Trinity Hall, Corpus Christi and Westminster College, where rigging has to be tidy, quiet and kind to historic fabric.
- City and riverside hotels, including the University Arms and Graduate Cambridge, for corporate days, dinners and wedding receptions.
- The science and business parks around the city, where launches and conferences need screens and sound that work first time.
- Marquees, barns and private homes in the surrounding villages, where we bring the power distribution, staging and PA the site doesn't have.
An awards night for 200, in Cambridgeshire.

Peterborough Community Business Awards, Holiday Inn Peterborough.
For the Peterborough Community Business Awards we produced the whole evening for 200 guests at the Holiday Inn Peterborough: a P3.91 LED wall, an 83-slide show deck and a 203-cue running order, run live from front of house.
The same approach suits a college dinner or a hotel ballroom in Cambridge: a written running order, cues run live and kit sized to the room. Read the case study or see our awards and gala production page.
Access, parking, power and noise.
Can you get kit into college and city-centre venues?
Yes. Vehicle access in central Cambridge is often restricted, so tell us the loading point, any permit or time window, and whether there are steps or a lift. We plan the van, crew and build time around it, and we're happy to speak to the college or venue team directly.
Where will the van park?
We agree that with you and the venue before the day, so the build isn't held up. If there's no space on site, let us know when you enquire.
Do Cambridge venues have noise limits?
Many do, especially historic buildings and venues near homes, and some use a sound limiter that cuts the power if it's exceeded. Send us the limit and the finish time and we'll design the system to sound full underneath it.
What power do you need?
Most indoor events run from ordinary sockets on separate circuits. LED walls, larger lighting rigs and marquees need more, so we check the supply in advance and bring our own distribution. For sites with no power, we can coordinate a generator for you.
